The Palace Saloon on Whiskey Row in Prescott, AZ

Palace Saloon

Welcome to the Palace Saloon located on Whiskey Row in the "old west" town of Prescott, Arizona.

The exact age of the saloon is not sure although in an article of the Arizona Weekly Miner dated Sept. 21, 1877 the saloon was mentioned suggesting it was already there.

The Palace was possibly the first bar in Prescott but there is no definite proof.  In 1883 there was a fire that destroyed most of the street including the Palace.  When the owner rebuilt the saloon he demanded that it be fireproof.  It had an iron roof and iron shutters in the rear.   In spite of the fireproofing of the saloon, it was among the many buildings destroyed in the "great" fire of July 1900.

One of my favorite stories to come out of that fire was that the patrons at the bar drinking picked up the huge oak bar and carried it across the street to the Courthouse Square plaza...and continued drinking!!   That oak bar came over in a covered wagon sometime in the 1880s and is still the centerpiece of the saloon.

There are so many ghosts stories associated with the Palace but one of the famous stories is the "Phantom Cowboy" who walks up to the bar at closing time for his last drink.  Another story is about the high stakes poker game in the back room.  A man named Nevins lost his mortuary in that poker game and is believed to still show up in the back room to replay that game.

There are so many more stories, things that have happened recently to the general manager and other staff working late at night.  Make your reservation for A Haunting Experience Tours and find out more about the saloons on Whiskey Row and their ghostly visitors.  Oh yes, make sure to bring your camera...others have captured very interesting pictures!!

The Hotel Vendome is a special, beautiful and welcoming place to stay

Hotel Vendome ~ 1917
The haunted Hotel Vendome has a book of stories about the different haunts in the lobby. One story - a lady didn't like her bed sheets tucked in at the end of the bed so she always pulls the sheets loose.  When she arrived at the Hotel Vendome and checked into Room 16 (Abby’s Room) she did the same thing she always does. The next morning when she woke up - her sheets were all tucked in.

The most famous ghosts at the Hotel Vendome is Abby and her cat Noble in Room 16.  There is an old dress hanging in the closet in that room and the dress has been known to move from one side of the closet to the other.  Others have heard a cat meowing in the closet, where the cat died.  People have reported being touched by unseen presences.  Hearing or feeling Noble jump up on the bed.  Footsteps have been heard in Room 16 when no one is there...or I should say, no human is in the room.

To hear these stories and more, things that I have experienced myself, join me on my haunted tours.  What will you experience?  Are you brave enough to stay in Room 16 at the Hotel Vendome?
